Primary history – 'getting the focus right' face-to-face CPD at Holmer CE Academy

Holmer CE Academy would like to invite you to join us for a day of inspiring history face-to-face CPD with Diane Pye. Informed by HMI subject reviews, subject reports, and current curriculum thinking, this course covers progress and assessment in history from early years to Year 6.

Description

Well known as an inspirational and motivational trainer, Diane brings informed clarity and simplicity to curriculum thinking. Diane has a proven track record in school improvement, which has been recognised in school performance and inspection outcomes.

 

Informed by HMI subject reviews, subject reports, and current curriculum thinking, this course covers progress and assessment in history from early years to Year 6.

The day will include:

  • what to focus on and why

  • the difference between crucial and optional knowledge

  • making sure content choices build readiness for what comes next

  • how to navigate published schemes

  • key indicators of progress

  • meaningful assessment

  • what we mean by historical skills

  • what expanding schemas look like in history

  • ambitious outcomes and what they look like

  • lots of resource ideas

  • how to keep things simple and ensure children learn more.
