What headteachers need to know about effective curriculum design, guiding subject leadership and articulating vision and ambition.

What does an ambitious, inclusive, well-sequenced curriculum look like? This session, aimed at school leaders, sets out an overview of the key features. It explains what to focus on, how to reduce workload, and how to articulate your rationale and vision.

 

This half-day session covers:

  • guiding principles behind a knowledge-rich, well-sequenced curriculum

    the features of an ambitious curriculum for all

  • leading and articulating intent and ambition

  • what subject leaders should focus on

  • what to prioritise and emphasise

  • the difference between curriculum and pedagogy

  • common mistakes and misconceptions

  • implications for assessment

  • the link between effective curriculum design and staff and pupil well-being

  • keeping workload manageable
